| Zwicker's "Burger with the Boss" Program Heads the Menu of National Magazine Once a month, Zwicker Electric president David Pinter holds "Burger with the Boss" dinner meetings at Manhattan's famed Pete's Tavern. The gatherings - all about clear communication - were the basis for the cover story in a recent edition of The Quality Connection, a publication of the National Labor Management Cooperation Committee of the Electrical Construction Industry. Those attending the informal event are a wide range of Zwicker employees - apprentices, journeymen, foremen and project managers. There are only two rules: no personal attacks and no questions that venture into the area of confidential information. According to Pinter, "I want there to be a strong connection between management and labor. We need to hear what is on everyone's minds. We are all in this together and we need consistent, honest feedback." There is plenty for managers to say to field workers and vice-versa. Topics covered in a recent dinner included: insurance challenges on large projects; medical plan coverage and costs; material pricing concerns; how to get material to where it's needed. |
