News & Events Zwicker Electric plays crucial role in negotiating new PLA ![]() New York City's construction trade unions and their management counterparts recently negotiated a new PLA agreement between the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York (BCTC) and the Building Trades Employers' Association (BTEA). NECA played a central role in this negotiation, specifically through NECA member, Zwicker Electric. David B. Pinter, President of Zwicker Electric and board member of the BTEA and New York Building Congress, held a particularly crucial role in negotiating the terms of the PLA with all New York City union building trades on behalf of management. The question of where will qualified contractors and workforce come from was the recent focus of a special Industry Roundtable held by McGraw-Hill Construction at its New York Conference Center. Over 26 top industry professionals participated in three hour discussion that included both private and public sector owners. The results of the discussion drove home important issues that are confronting the City’s owners and its contractor community. David Pinter, Zwicker Electric’s President participated in the round table that advanced several key recommendations for improving the position of New York’s construction industry. Zwicker Electric Supports City Parks Foundation Seniors Fitness Programs

City Parks Foundation partners with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to improve neighborhood parks and the communities they serve. The organization provides free sports, arts, and education programs for kids and communities throughout New York City. One of its programs, City Parks Seniors Fitness provides a fun FREE way for New Yorkers 60 years and older to stay active each autumn and spring in several of the city's local parks. City Parks Seniors Fitness is supported by Zwicker Electric, one of New York’s leading electrical contractors, the New York City Council and Hon. Martin J. On February 25, 2008, City Parks Foundation Board Member David Pinter welcomed guests to a special cocktail reception in support of CityParks Seniors Fitness. Held at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, one of New York City's most popular concert venues, the reception featured a special jazz performance by renowned guitarist Woody Mann.
CityParks Seniors Fitness, the only program of its kind in the city, makes New York City's parks more inviting to older New Yorkers by offering free activities and social experiences that enhance their lives. The event raised over $100,000 to fund senior fitness programs throughout New York City's Parks. Once a month, Zwicker Electric president David Pinter holds "Burger with the Boss" dinner meetings at Manhattan's famed Pete's Tavern. The gatherings - all about clear communication - were the basis for the cover story in a recent edition of The Quality Connection, a publication of the National Labor Management Cooperation Committee of the Electrical Construction Industry.
Those attending the informal event are a wide range of Zwicker employees - apprentices, journeymen, foremen and project managers. There are only two rules: no personal attacks and no questions that venture into the area of confidential information. According to Pinter, "I want there to be a strong connection between management and labor. We need to hear what is on everyone's minds. We are all in this together and we need consistent, honest feedback."
